California Fires Are Not Climate Change, but They Might Change Our Political Climate.

It’s time to quit fueling the myths that are burning down America’s great cities and states. Will the latest fires finally awaken people to the problem of the left’s de-growth movement?

If you had asked me roughly 24 hours ago what I thought today would feature, I would not have said “oh, well I think my wife and I will be evacuating our townhouse in Pasadena because of a big-ass fire.” But then, as I was driving home on the 210 freeway, entering the Pasadena area I noticed that the hill almost directly above our home was on fire. All the focus up to that point was the Palisades fire and the high winds fueling it. Winds that were blasting all over the LA area, including Pasadena.

Immediately, I called my wife and asked her what was up with the fire in Pasadena. “What fire?” she replied. Apparently it had literally just started and I came to find as I pulled into our complex that virtually none of our neighbors were aware. It was only about a half mile away at that point and I recommended to them that they pack up in case we needed to evacuate. We did the same, and fortunately we had plenty of time to gather up precious belongings. For us, it was not the situation of, “if you only had a minute, what would you grab?”

The Pasadena Fire (Easton Fire) seen from the 605 S freeway.

About an hour later with our cars totally packed we decided it was best to get out of there even though an evacuation hadn’t officially been ordered in our area. The evacuation area already extended to the block just to the northwest of us, so we knew we were on the margin and likely to be evacuated some time in the night. But the real deciding factor was the thick brown smoke already billowing into our parking area. Come to find, as we pulled away from our drive and toward the freeway that the fire had moved Eastward all the way directly behind our neighborhood in just that little time. It had already crawled about a mile east in just an hour.

Fast forward to today. The Pasadena and Palisades fires have burned almost 30 thousand acres, destroying thousands of homes and businesses. We also know that 5 people have died from the Pasadena fire. I’ve been watching the news coverage and can’t help but notice recurring statements that these fires are “extreme weather events” that are driven by climate change. What a load of crap.

It’s Not Climate Change.

For many years now, every major fire in California has been blamed on climate change. The same is true of hurricanes in other parts of the country. But the truth is that climate change has been a multi-generational hoax perpetuated by communist de-growthers to push a far left agenda intended to do one thing: Cripple America’s infrastructure. Climate-related red tape is one of the biggest limiters on the advance or upkeep of the electrical grid, new building, road expansion, vehicle improvements, and even wildlife management. The movement has intentionally created a society much more susceptible to disaster.

Of course, this helps to make Climate doomsday predictions seem real. If your city is ill-prepared for fires, possibly because you defunded the fire departments and do not have water available in 20% of your fire hydrants, then it’s bound to suffer more. In the case of Paradise, which burned to the ground entirely a few years ago, the fire was entirely due to a downed power line that had been left in disrepair by PG&E thanks to climate regulations. Had controlled burns and dry brush been cleared as part of proper forest management, the fire may never have started in the first place. Regular maintenance matters. But the fact is that climate radicals are in favor of enabling these disasters because it creates the pretense for furthering their de-growth agenda.

We really should stop pretending that these disasters are simply acts of nature. At the bare minimum, they are the result of criminal negligence if not outright criminality. What do I mean by that? Well, if fortune favors the prepared, misfortune is the fault of the unprepared. Bad weather cannot be the excuse. Let’s assess.

1. Could it be criminal negligence?

If your government is supposedly entrusted with ensuring public safety, then how can neglect of key responsibilities NOT make those in government liable for ensuing calamities? If you waste taxpayer money on diversity initiatives while letting the electrical grid rot, allow Fire and Police departments to go unfunded, allow criminals, vagrants, and bums to build crack fires in your canyons then when those conditions combine to transform society into a conflagration, it’s your fault and you should face punishment for it.

A pair of de-growth losers, onsite, not accepting responsibility for the fires they enabled.

They say criminals always return to the scene of the crime. So I have to say that nothing supports that more than seeing Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, and Karen Bass holding press conferences in LA during these fires. If ever there were three bigger criminal morons worthy of punishment for these fires, I don’t know them. Newsom and Biden, who have both sold out Americans to China on multiple occasions. Newsom, who a few years ago diverted funding from Fire Departments and gave it to corrupt, failed teacher’s unions instead. Biden, who apparently thought he was at a birthday announcement (newsflash Joe, we don’t care) and couldn’t be bothered to mention that his very arrival in LA forced fire planes to be grounded at a critical time. Karen Bass, who was in Ghana rather than her own city. Can anybody provide a reasonable explanation for what business the mayor of LA has in ever going to Ghana?

The point is that it’s radicals like this in government who should be facing thousands upon thousands of charges of criminal negligence in their respective roles. They enjoy their power without taking on any of the responsibility.

2. Could it be direct criminality?

Personally, it’s hard to believe that the now 7 active fires in southern California are naturally-occurring. I know too much about how climate activists think to overlook the possibility that they are setting these fires directly, during high-wind times. The Climate Hysteria movement is the most prone to violence of any leftwing movements. It is also unique in that it holds a directly anti-human position. Organizations like Climate Extinction and Just Stop Oil openly support violent destruction of property and lives. Starting fires is not only an easy way to push their movement, it’s also hard to prove. But it is certainly a possibility.

It’s also worth considering that taking advantage of weak infrastructure and underfunded agencies is a very effective way for America’s enemies to attack us. We talk a lot about nuclear attacks, or attacks on our grid, but that’s incredibly elaborate if a fire and wind can take down one of our largest cities and throw the whole country into a tailspin. Why wouldn’t the various terrorists and foreign agents that we’ve imported during the defunct Biden regime take advantage of these opportunities?

Is there a silver lining?

Maybe. My hope is that the burning of much of LA will ignite a political revolution against Democrats and wake people up to the failings of the left’s political philosophy. We’ve already seen that California voted massively in favor of Donald Trump compared to previous years so at one level this is already underway. Beverly Hills (which you would think is a hollywood elite, deep blue center) turned red, and as I’ve written before you are actually more likely to run into a silent conservative than a leftist in most places. But there clearly are slow-minded holdouts. They seem completely oblivious to the fact that while they bemoan the hoax that is climate change, their lives are, in reality, either at the mercy of completely negligent fools or hostile actors. We can only hope that these fires will drive home the point to them, even if they no longer have somewhere to which they can drive home.
